Old Glory Will Wave Again

On 8/29/09 I was at a Marine Corp unit reunion in San Diego, CA and we all had dinner together that satarday evening. After dinner my wife wanted to go on a Cinderella buggy ride. The gentleman who drove the buggy came from Ireland 20 years ago to enjoy American Freedom. A year after the tragity of 9/11 he wrote the following poem.

Old Glory Will Wave Again

When we see Old Glory at half-mast

We know there's something wrong

It's a hurt we share, cause we still care

For this country proud and strong

*

To some it is a demonic sign

As if like Satan's shroud

But to me and you, the Red, White, and Blue

Will forever make us proud

*

And you without who scream and shout

You inflict on us such pain

We've heard your roar we've seen the gore

But terror will not reign

*

With great unease, I ask you please

Your evil set aside

And maybe, someday, somehow, someway

You'll know a thing called pride

*

We never posed a threat to you

It was of your creation

To mar, to spoil, destroy, defile

This paradise-like nation

*

We weep today for our sad lot

Yes, our hearts are filled with pain

But we're not afraid, cause with God's aid

Old Glory will wave again

God Bless You America
